Strictly Come Dancing 2010
Week 6
After last weeks altercations between Brendan and Len would any more of our professionals or celebrities explode like fireworks or would they fizzle like soggy sparklers and what would the unstoppable ‘AA’ duo have in stall for us this week? Would they need recovery or were they to perform yet another ‘drag’ number?
Kara & Artem Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Salsa 9 9 9 9 36
Amazing tricks in their routine this week but as a whole I thought it was not one of their best. Quite a few of the lines were unfinished and there was a feel of panic as the routine was rushed. A very good opening to the show and they did attempt to dance some Salsa moves.
Pamela & James Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Foxtrot 8 9 8 8 33
How even more beautiful is Pamela looking? And she is also looking younger week after week? A simply stylish elegant routine, and even though a few stumbles the technique was definitely obvious, Pam did look very nervous at times but it was one of her best performances.
Felicity & Vincent Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Paso Doblé 6 8 7 8 29
A very brave opening from Felicity, dancing a solo and overall the routine was more polished than we have seen in previous weeks, dramatic, stylish and elegant, but Vincent your partner is portraying the cape of the matador and not the little bull as you were referring to her. For me I would have preferred the music to be heavier to create the attitude and arrogance of the dance.
Jimi & Flavia Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Quickstep 7 8 8 9 32
This was definitely Jimi’s best performance, he is improving slowly but steadily and is not looking as awkward as he has done in the other styles, if he could just put the same amount of performance as he does into his solo sections the overall performance would then become more balanced, when he dances with Flavia in Ballroom hold he looks tight and mechanical, keep up the hard work Jimi you never know you could become a dance guru!
Matt & Aliona Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Viennese Waltz 8 9 9 9 35
A good clean demonstration of the Viennese Waltz with a good strong leading top line, Matt needed to lift his left elbow slightly and increase his lilt on his natural turns, the music felt a little flat and uninspiring at times, for me I preferred Scott’s Viennese Waltz from last week.
Ann & Anton (AA) Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Ann looked fabulous in her Charleston outfit and a lot less of a ‘tuckel’ than in previous weeks, I even thought they danced for more of the music than in previous routines, she does work very hard but Craig your comments are personal and not constructive.
Michelle & Brendan Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Waltz 6 8 8 8 30
Michelle definitely danced up this week, however they were suppose to be dancing a Waltz which is a 3/4 and the music definitely was a 4/4, Brendan told us in his interview it was a Foxtrot however it was actually a rumba, the judges should have pulled him up on this point or does this mean that it is now acceptable to dance any style to any rhythm?
Patsy & Robin Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Cha Cha 6 8 7 8 29
Patsy really had a look of Kylie Minogue at the start of her routine, her performance and confidence has definitely grown. The routine was a little rushed in places and a little over danced but overall a well danced routine.
Scott & Natalie Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Rumba 4 9 7 8 28
A very good attempt from Scott, he has a nice Rumba hip action developing with good clear footwork, it was just lacking in fluidity in the lower part of the body. Not up to his usual standard but the hardest of Latin dances for the male celebrities to master, the choreography was weak but definitely not deserving of Craig’s comments and score. I got the impression that Craig does not like Scott, do you agree?
Gavin & Katya Craig Len Alisha Bruno Total
Cha Cha 5 8 8 8 29
Definitely Gavin’s best dance to date, it was well performed, had good technique and Gavin even smiled. A good strong hip action with good fluidity and style, lets hope Gavin has now found his dancing shoes, but again Craig and his personal comments and score were out of order.
Sundays result Show
An amazing Foxtrot formation performance from our professionals, but I was not keen on the Rock ‘n’ Roll number that opened the show from our Strictly Dancers, our bottom two couples who both danced better this week, Michelle & Brendan, Jimi & Flavia, but for Jimi & Flavia to go is a joke in my opinion, BRING BACK THE DANCE OFF this sacrilege would not have happened, to see how emotional Jimi was at the end just proves how much this means to our celebrities.
